Marc Babut discusses the many challenges posed by climate change, requiring adaptations to lifestyles and management methods. Although progress has been made against phosphorus pollution, leading to an improvement in the lake's health, problems persist. CIPEL provides essential knowledge, carrying out monitoring programs on water quality, aquatic fauna and physico-chemical conditions, while anticipating future problems so as to be better prepared. The lake serves as a resource for the production of drinking water, water sports, fishing, and the exploitation of its thermal potential for cooling buildings.
