Awareness raising

A course on how municipalities can carry out maintenance without herbicides, intended for all the communes in the Lake Geneva catchment area

This course was available in Switzerland and France in 2009, 2010 and 2011. It was organised jointly by the SANU (Swiss Sustainable Development Training Institute) and CIPEL. This course was specially organised for council employees responsible for parks and other green areas throughout the catchment area of Lake Geneva in order to reduce the inflow of herbicides into Lake Geneva, and thus make an active contribution to improving the quality of the lake water. Herbicides and pesticides are micropollutants, substances that can accumulate, and therefore produce harmful effects even when present at very low concentrations.
